1. Destroying or damaging property belonging to another person
2. Tampering with property of someone else as to endanger that person or their property, or
3. Tampering with or making a connection with property of public utilities with no lawful purpose. Examples are gas, electric, water and telephone connections.
Criminal Mischief Penalties In Delaware
In the state of Delaware, the charge you will face is directly related to the amount of the damage done. If the ensuing damage done exceeds $1,500.00 you may face Class G felony charges. Also, if the act intentionally disrupted public works you may also face felony charges. A Class G felony in Delaware carries with it a possible prison sentence of up to 2 years.
If the damage was less than $1,500.00 you can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor. That may result in a 1-year jail sentence and up to $2,300.00 in fines.
