Penalties For Passing A Stopped School Bus In Delaware
There are serious consequences if you pass a stopped school bus with its red lights on. Under Delaware law, there is a fine of not less than $115.00 or more than $230.00. You may be sentenced to jail for 30-60 days as well.
If you receive a second violation within 3 years of the first you will be fined between $115.00 and $575.00. In addition, you may be sentenced to 60-180 days in jail.
For violating this law you will also be subject to a 1 to 12-month drivers license suspension for the first offense. You will also receive 6 points against your driver’s license.
